i finished the semester with a 3.892. not too shabby i suppose. the best part was winning the cotton inc. marketing research contest.
not too much to know there without me coming off too querulous. but i will say that i am still waiting for my check...
summer school is now...ending june 29th. i'm looking forward to having some actual time off. two classes don't sound like much, but the other nite as i was lying in bed all i could think of was present value and future value formulas and calculating sinking fund interest...
i AM looking forward to my best friend liz coming back to ny this august. we plan on spending a week in my old college town columbia, mo as well as the stl. this year couldn't get any better for me i don't think...

yashica t4 super fun and st pat's.
on march 12th i received my yashica. since then i've shot about 5 pics. a couple from the st. patty's day parade. i'm curious as to how they will turn out because my subjects were moving so erratically.
speaking of the st patty's day parade, i was leaving an appt on 45th and 5th (that i had already had some difficulty in attending because of the sectioned off parade), thus was in a hurry to get to school and not in such a pleasant mood. some guy jumps out in front of me and i suppose i unconsciously gave him a dirty look seeing as how i assumed he wanted directions and the streets were littered with police officers. he motioned to me to remove my headphones, which i did, and then he started babbling to me how he was sorry for staring at me and some other nonsense which i just kind of phased out.
until he mentioned that i had been smoking. i gave him another dirty look this time a bit confused and asked him to repeat himself, and unfortunately he obeyed my request. this time he said he was sorry for running to me but he just had had to because i was smoking.
to which i replied "smoking? i wasn't smoking. i quit two weeks ago" (which is true).
his response: "no, no. smoking HOT."
you know, if i hadn't been in such a mood or hurry i probably would have stopped to at least exchange a few words (nice ones, i swear) instead of waving him off. i would've never seen him again after that, but i'm such a sucker for cheese. plus it takes balls to run across a nyc parade after some asian girl in sweatpants.

film
also, i have taken an avid interest in film photography. due to the current economic crises that we are in, many people have lost interest in film because of high photo processing fees. i have decided to join the unconventional and un-economically savvy and thus bid on a yashica t4 super. after much extensive research, i have decided to go with this camera, and possibly a contax t3.
my other options were the leica minilux or the contax t2. but after a most informative conversation with craig at kurland photo, i have chosen the yashica and contax t3.
thanks craig!
i primarily got these two cameras for my trip to paris and ireland in april. surf, the champs elysees, eiffel tour, and liz will all be happily documented on film for the rest of my life.
once processed, i shall scan them in for the rest of the world to enjoy.
back to school
i had my first test this past friday. the second one was due on monday, however a higher power opted to intervene and instead cause a snow day. i think the higher power was aware of the wasted time i had spent sunday nite on a non-related chapter to my test.
school's been good. my course load has been quite intensive, partially because FIT is an industry related school and I am an ITM major, and partially because the first week of school was spent working and not studying at all. but i think i'm pretty much caught up by now. chinese has been a breeze. there's an annoying white boy in my class who i'm sure suffers from yellow fever syndrome.
my international market research class has proved to quite interesting. yesterday we took a trip to the science, industry, and business library or rather sibl. i have fallen in love (yes with the library). it is amazing. the access to the infinite science, technology, and business resources and articles there is mind blowing.
all in all, it's a good start to the year. here's to the rest.

twitter and 2009

hopefully NME is incorrect in their assumption that twitter is going to rule the world in 2009. according to them, 2008 was all facebook facebok facebook.
i remember using twitter like my no longer existing tumblr account from a while ago. now i'm back on this internet/phone crack.
so addicting.

2000 and MINE
i've opted out of the traditional new year's resolution this year. in lieu, i shall be accomplishing things that give me pleasure and happiness.
1. since my acceptance into FIT, i'll be attending full time. it seems my goal of graduating with a bachelor's degree before i turn 30 is well within reach.
2. starting next week, i'll be a member of ludlow fitness. leave it to science to explain why every time you've gotten done with an ass-kicking class of cardio you just want to go home and fuck someone.
3. less tv, more crafts. being prolific is something i truly enjoy, and last year was anything but. jewelry will be made, art will be framed, writing will be done. i was going to add knitting, but i don't want to set my expectations too high. also more shooting. preferably in pennsylvania where they allow you to shoot handguns.
4. getting my license again. i really need to do this if i'm going to try to fit in a trip to missouri and california this year. the mystery of where my birth certificate and social security card have gone has indeed fueled the procrastination tank in this losing battle with bringing myself to the new jersey dmv.
5. showing more appreciation and gratitude to the people in my life. i hope they understand how much they mean to me and as someone quite near and dear to my heart said that other day "that we're family".
6. traveling to see friends. kelly and chica in washington, stephanie, kirk, and meaghan in philly, too many to name in stl and como, joey and dominoe in la, and of course leigh in boston. or at least keeping in good correspondence. i've been a bad penpal to ryan and steve and i would really like to work on that. scratch would like to, instead WILL.
i'll keep the smoking, cussing, and lusting this year thank you very much. i need some sort of bad to balance all the good i'd like to accomplish. it may seeem that this entry is all about me, but you can blame susan miller for that one. this year is my year to shine, and i will gloriously if i might add.

whoa
so it's been two months since i've last updated. granted i have been busy, but that's probably no excuse. so here's a brief synopsis with photos to follow later...
- since then halloween has came and gone. it's truly one of my favorite holidays. bikini editorial had a goth party and i was hired to be a dominatrix. you meet a lot of lovely people when dressed in a lace corset, pvc mini skirt, and five inch heels. especially when attacking them with a riding crop.
- september came and went quickly. my friend bettina had come back from barcelona with the startling and fulfilling news that she had become engaged while working for the university of dreams. she has since then returned to barcelona to stay with her fiancee and should be back in march. i've known this girl for years, and she truly deserves the happiness that she has found. the university of dreams is an amazing program, one that has been extremely gratifying for her.
- have discovered that i am probably be an early candidate for alzheimer's disease. my memory has been somewhat shot to shit (even as i type these updates, i've been referring to my chronologically ordered picture files to remind me of what i have done...eeks i know). yet somehow am able to remember the must mundane and irrelevant shit. that's me for you.
- end of september brought me a vacation i most certainly needed. i booked a ticket months ago to visit a dear friend of mine in la for two weeks. most friends of mine in nyc have indeed hated on la, but i had a most enjoyable time over there. was able to see some old college friends whom i haven't seen in years. also able to reconnect with some old nyc friends who have since moved out there to pursue careers in acting, be with family, etc. it was a really good trip and i have been so lucky to have been able to take all these trips this year and fufill my new year's resolution of traveling more. next year, i plan on going to missouri for old friends, hawaii for surfing, and japan to see my little sister.
- while in la, i received the wonderful news that i had been accepted to FIT and was going to be given $1500 in financial aid.
- when i returned from my trip in la, it was close to two weeks into december. the bikini edit holiday prom party was in a week and it was ridiculous. i had the most glorious time with old and and new friends a like. those pics i need to post soon too, because the amazing-ness of my "five dollar off the streets in la" evening dress is just too good to miss.
- and now that brings us to the holidays. don't have any major plans as usual. sticking around nyc for x mas and also prob new years. originally i was going to fly with one of my best friends to her grandparent's house in FL, but at the last minute her flight schedule came out and sadly she only has the day after x mas off. i'm truly thankful for all my good friends this year. words cannot express how grateful i am for supporting me and enduring whatever kind of crazy i put on them.
