yashica t4 super fun and st pat's.

on march 12th i received my yashica. since then i've shot about 5 pics. a couple from the st. patty's day parade. i'm curious as to how they will turn out because my subjects were moving so erratically.

speaking of the st patty's day parade, i was leaving an appt on 45th and 5th (that i had already had some difficulty in attending because of the sectioned off parade), thus was in a hurry to get to school and not in such a pleasant mood. some guy jumps out in front of me and i suppose i unconsciously gave him a dirty look seeing as how i assumed he wanted directions and the streets were littered with police officers. he motioned to me to remove my headphones, which i did, and then he started babbling to me how he was sorry for staring at me and some other nonsense which i just kind of phased out.

until he mentioned that i had been smoking. i gave him another dirty look this time a bit confused and asked him to repeat himself, and unfortunately he obeyed my request. this time he said he was sorry for running to me but he just had had to because i was smoking.

to which i replied "smoking? i wasn't smoking. i quit two weeks ago" (which is true).

his response: "no, no. smoking HOT."

you know, if i hadn't been in such a mood or hurry i probably would have stopped to at least exchange a few words (nice ones, i swear) instead of waving him off. i would've never seen him again after that, but i'm such a sucker for cheese. plus it takes balls to run across a nyc parade after some asian girl in sweatpants.

film

also, i have taken an avid interest in film photography. due to the current economic crises that we are in, many people have lost interest in film because of high photo processing fees. i have decided to join the unconventional and un-economically savvy and thus bid on a yashica t4 super. after much extensive research, i have decided to go with this camera, and possibly a contax t3.

my other options were the leica minilux or the contax t2. but after a most informative conversation with craig at kurland photo, i have chosen the yashica and contax t3.

thanks craig!

i primarily got these two cameras for my trip to paris and ireland in april. surf, the champs elysees, eiffel tour, and liz will all be happily documented on film for the rest of my life.

once processed, i shall scan them in for the rest of the world to enjoy.

back to school

i had my first test this past friday. the second one was due on monday, however a higher power opted to intervene and instead cause a snow day. i think the higher power was aware of the wasted time i had spent sunday nite on a non-related chapter to my test.

school's been good. my course load has been quite intensive, partially because FIT is an industry related school and I am an ITM major, and partially because the first week of school was spent working and not studying at all. but i think i'm pretty much caught up by now. chinese has been a breeze. there's an annoying white boy in my class who i'm sure suffers from yellow fever syndrome.

my international market research class has proved to quite interesting. yesterday we took a trip to the science, industry, and business library or rather sibl. i have fallen in love (yes with the library). it is amazing. the access to the infinite science, technology, and business resources and articles there is mind blowing.

all in all, it's a good start to the year. here's to the rest.
